We are pleased to announce our contribution to the European Drought Observatory (EDO) with the implementation of the Drought Metadata Catalogue.
The EDO geoportal, created by the Institute of Environment and Sustainability of the European Commission – Joint Research Centre, provides users with drought-relevant information such as maps of indicators derived from different data sources (e.g., precipitation measurements, satellite measurements, modelled soil moisture content).
The Drought Metadata Catalogue was developed under the framework of the EuroGEOSS project, a European FP7 project whose aim was to demonstrate the added value of making existing earth observation systems and applications interoperable and used within the GEOSS and INSPIRE frameworks.
The software of the catalogue has been implemented under the LGPL license, and is based on the Open Source product “SpatiumCube – CatalogCube”, which is part of SpatiumCube, an Open Source Initiative developed by GeoSpatiumLab, Zeta Amaltea and the University of Zaragoza with the support of IGN/CNIG.
