FQAS 2023 Special session on "Flexible Queries over Semantic Systems"
A special session dedicated to "Flexible Queries over Semantic Systems" will be celebrated in the 15th International Conference on Flexible Query Answering Systems (FQAS 2023), to be held at Palma de Mallorca (Spain) on September 5–7, 2023.
Description
Semantic Web technologies (including ontologies, knowledge graphs, and linked data) are very popular to represent the knowledge in many domains and applications. Since uncertainty (understood in a wide sense, covering different types of imperfect knowledge) is inherent in many real-world domains, Semantic systems (based on Semantic Web technologies) need methods for uncertainty representation and reasoning, as well as for answering flexible queries over them, using formalisms such as fuzzy logic, possibilistic logic, probability, etc. This special session tries to bring together researchers in this area to disseminate the latest research results, share experiences, and provide a forum for a debate.
Topics
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following issues:
- Extensions (including fuzzy theory, probability theory, and other approaches) of ontology (e.g., OWL 2) or knowledge graphs (e.g., RDF) languages to support flexible queries
- Extensions of query languages (e.g., SPARQL) to support flexible queries
- Approaches for flexible knowledge graph question answering
- Approaches to flexible reasoning on ontologies (e.g., fuzzy Description Logics or rules)
- Approaches to flexible reasoning on knowledge graphs (e.g., probabilist approaches to entity linking or relation prediction)
- Embedding methods to improve flexible querying to semantic systems
- Flexible queries to multilingual semantic systems
- Learning approaches to support flexible querying to semantic systems
- Implementations of tools (e.g., editors or reasoners) to support flexible queries to semantic systems
- Real-world applications using flexible queries to semantic systems
- New datasets to evaluate flexible querying to semantic systems
Submission
All papers must be original and not simultaneously submitted to another journal or conference. We invite submissions of original research contributions. We also encourage submission of survey andposition papers, and contributions on applications and experimental studies.
All accepted FQAS 2023 papers will be published by Springer-Verlag in their Lecture Notes in Artificial Intelligence (LNAI) series. Authors are invited to submit original previously unpublished research papers written in English, of up to 12 pages, strictly following the LNCS/LNAI format guidelines. Authors can download the Latex (recommended) or Word templates available at Springer's web site. Submissions not following the format guidelines will be rejected without review. The LNAI publication will be online accessible during September 2023 for the registered FQAS participants.
The paper submission deadline is April 21, 2023.
All papers are to be submitted electronically through the Easychair platform.
